Busy times in wiki-land
Palo Alto, Calif.-based Accel Partners -- an early investor in Facebook, RealNetworks and others -- just led a $9.5 million second round of funding in the 15-month-old company.
The investment, bringing total financing to $14.75 million, comes as the online collaboration tools known as wikis attract attention from Internet titans.
Last month, Amazon.com invested in Wikia -- a San Mateo, Calif.-based startup co-founded by Wikipedia creator Jimmy Wales. In October, Google made a big push into the wiki arena with its purchase of JotSpot -- a Palo Alto, Calif.-based company whose online information sharing tools are primarily used in business collaboration.
