“But not everybody believes in this,” he said with a mildly ominous undertone. “Not everybody believes in this because, ladies and gentlemen, as I travel around the world—and I mentioned this last year as well—we need to be thinking about something very important, and that point is: we need to beware of the false cloud!”

And while intoning his warning, Benioff put up a slide showing a huge Oracle Exadata box, which drew a big laugh from the audience.

“Because the false cloud, ladies and gentlemen,” said Benioff with his voice rising, “is not efficient, it is not democratic, it is not economical, and it is not environmental!
