Excerpt from another article covering Apple/HTC. IANAL, but I have a hunch this is all going to eventually backfire on Apple in a big way.
The folks at HTC were still waiting for the papers to be served, but said, “We respect and value patent rights but we are committed to defending our own innovations. We have been innovating and patenting our own technology for 13 years.”
Such patent battles can drag on for years in the courts, but Apple might get some earlier action out the speedier ITC process. Should it find merit in Apple’s complaint, the ITC has the power to ban the import of HTC handsets into the U.S.
