This is far from the first time Google has advertised its products on its home page. It used the space to plug Motorola’s Droid phone, which runs the Internet search company’s Android operating system, during its November launch. These ads are what people in the industry call “intramural promotion,” or in media-speak, a “house ad.”
And let’s not forget Google’s video site YouTube. Yesterday, a Nexus One channel, which featured videos about the device, was fixed in a spot near the top of the site.
