Touch is handy, but a stylus is complementary
Samsung Electronics Co. unveiled a mobile device that the company said would create a new product category, filling a gap between smartphones and tablets.
The Note, as the device is called, runs Google Inc.'s Android operating system, has a five-inch screen and boasts a slide-out stylus—a feature that harks back to personal digital assistants but which has all but disappeared since Apple Inc. made the finger the primary input method for touch-sensitive screens.
