A multifaceted sign of the times
BY CONDUCTING what it calls the “first Twitter Town Hall’’ at the White House today, the Obama administration will confirm two things about the 2012 campaign.
First, social media are increasingly powerful tools in promoting candidates and raising money. Second, there’s more to what ails the nation than can be meaningfully communicated in 140 characters. The White House “Tweetup’’ will be moderated by Jack Dorsey, Twitter’s co-founder, and follows a similar event in California earlier this year at which Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook presented Obama with questions posted online.
