Here comes the 16GB USB flash drive

Consider:

1.  Flash prices will continue to fall...

2.  If you plug in your 16GB USB flash drive (~$730 today, from Kingston Technology Co., according to this ComputerWorld article), operating systems such as Vista will fully exploit it for OS optimization -- so your PC gets a major upgrade for a few hundred dollars.  Or just plug in a couple 1 or 2 GB flash drives to improve OS paging etc.; 1 GB flash drives are now ~$25 on Amazon.com, and 2 GB drives start at around $50...

The TransMemory line of flash memory sticks from Toshiba range in capacity from 512MB up to 4GB, but the company also plans to release a special "limited edition" 16GB version. The memory sticks will be available in November, except for the limited edition version, which will ship at the end of December.
