WSJ.com - Prices for Large LCD Panels Slid in August

WSJ.com - Prices for Large LCD Panels Slid in August "Prices of large liquid-crystal display panels slid at a faster-than-expected rate in August due to disappointing demand and rising supply and inventories, paving the way for stronger sales in the fourth quarter, market-research firm iSuppli Corp. said.
The California company said the steepest decline was for LCD panels used in desktop personal-computer monitors, with prices for 15-inch and 17-inch panels dropping 18% to 19% in August from July. ISuppli attributed the price declines to rising supply due to increased production at several new plants that can produce more and bigger LCDs at lower costs, and slow sales of monitors and television sets in July and August."
