WSJ.com - Conferencing-Hardware Maker Plans Alliance With Microsoft

WSJ.com - Conferencing-Hardware Maker Plans Alliance With Microsoft "Microsoft Corp. and Polycom Inc. today are to announce a multiyear deal to integrate products for holding audio, video and Web conferences.
Polycom, of Pleasanton, Calif., is the No. 1 maker of conferencing hardware, including devices used in meeting rooms to hold telephone and video conferences.
Microsoft has been adding its own conferencing programs and services, including features that allow users of its instant-messaging software, known as Windows Messenger, to hold one-on-one video and audio conferences.
Among other things, the new partnership is designed to make it possible for Windows Messenger users to hold conferences with larger numbers of users at the same time."
