"Novell is furiously backpedaling, saying it isn't stopping development of the NetWare OS, which I comment on in yesterday?s post about the Ximian acquisition. In a story posted to eWeek yesterday, Novell executives say that Chris Stone?s comments were taken out of context, and that Novell has no intention of ceasing development of NetWare. As I said in yesterday's post, the transition is inevitable, but Novell saying that it intended to cease NetWare OS development before its Linux strategy takes hold seemed very premature. These are exactly the kind of execution and transition issues that Novell has to handle well in order to make its strategy work. But thus far, Novell is confusing its messages.
