Microsoft's plan is to introduce a special "safe" environment as part of a wider effort to develop what it calls "next generation secure computing base". Mr Eckert added: "We aim to create an environment in which you can run unknown code securely, and so preventing problems for users who, in a moment of weakness, have clicked on the wrong button."
