He’s counting on Facebook’s social graph to lead the way.

The integration “represents a powerful way to bring people together across an inherently social activity – shopping,” said Katie Mitic, director of platform and mobile marketing at Facebook, and a recently appointed EBay board member. “We’re just starting to see what’s possible with social commerce.”

The collaboration between Facebook and eBay sounds very promising, but Facebook has to be careful about commercializing user experience, given how much advertising already goes on in its site.
