My Burton Group colleague Guy Creese on a key content archiving/electronic discovery acquisition.
Autonomy announced this morning that it was buying ZANTAZ, a company that offers SaaS-based archiving and e-Discovery services, for approximately $375 million in cash. This acquisition gives Autonomy a vertically-oriented (records management, electronic discovery) SaaS footprint, and highlights the growing importance of delivering content management services via SaaS. Search companies impacted by this move would include Autonomy's arch rival, FAST Search, as well as Recommind, a niche player that has targeted the legal market.
