Cyberattack Disables County Websites, as Ferguson Protests Spread Online - Digits - WSJ

"The incident illustrates a new reality for civil unrest during the Internet age. Events that were once confined to a specific locale, whether it be the St. Louis suburbs or Kiev, now can drag in protestors from anywhere with a Web connection.

While the websites were disabled, Twitter suspended an account associated with the hacker collective Anonymous after it posted the name of a man who it said was involved in the shooting of Michael Brown, the 18-year-old whose death sparked the protests. Brown was shot by a police officer Saturday night."
