A big and timely win for Nokia
Nokia announced late on Monday that Apple will pay the Finnish cell phone maker an undisclosed amount as well as ongoing royalties to settle the long-running patent spate between the two companies.
The deal will settle all patent litigation between the two companies, Nokia said, and both companies will withdraw their complaints before the International Trade Commission. Specific terms weren’t disclosed.

Nokia sued Apple because they hadn't signed a licensing agreement for some key GSM patents, but the reason Apple hadn't signed was because Nokia was demanding onerous terms in excess of what other manufacturers were paying.
I think the litigation has ended with a good note and Apple being the leader in the mobile space should have considered the patent issues and must have dealt with a professional touch. This would have saved both the biggies the time and energy!
