Pattern Finder: Google Search Appliance 5.0 Released; Headroom Increased

My Burton Group colleague Guy Creese on Google's latest search appliance; see the post for details

Readers of my Google Apps, Premier Edition report know that I'm not a big fan of it at the moment. In its current state, I think it's immature and in some ways displays a naiveté about enterprise requirements in terms of content management and collaboration. In stark contrast, the Google Search Appliance 5.0 shows a company at the top of its game, filling in some of the security holes that existed previously and offering increasingly sophisticated search capabilities in a box at a low price. Put simply, the Google Search Appliance is good value for the money, and you can't say that about a lot of products.
