Oracle Extends Acquisitions Spree, To Buy Hyperion for $3.3 Billion - WSJ.com

Done deal, apparently 

The deal, expected to be announced Thursday, would carry a premium of about 21% over the closing price of Hyperion's shares Wednesday.

Oracle has been in talks for months with Hyperion, a Santa Clara, Calif., company that competes in a market known as business-intelligence software, as well as with rivals in the field that include Cognos Inc. and Business Objects S.A., these people said. Oracle, of Redwood Shores, Calif., was looking for the best fit with its own business-intelligence products, which help companies collect, analyze and share data about how their businesses are performing.
