The blanket coverage of Mr. Edwards in his home state is so intense that a local news station broadcast live video of him driving to court shot from a helicopter.
As Josh Gerstein of Politico points out, the news chopper’s telephoto lens appeared to catch Mr. Edwards checking messages on his cellphone while he was driving — which has been illegal in North Carolina since 2009.
