This should help Verizon iPad customers use their 4G data allotment in the first few minutes of every month (a commenter noted that Verizon already had the same policy – no extra charge to use as a mobile hotspot – for the Samsung Tab). I’m bummed Verizon and AT&T are leveraging oligopoly pricing models in this context; I’d be keen to have a new 4G iPad, if the 4G data rates were reasonable.
Another Verizon spokesperson confirmed to 9to5mac.com:
The new iPad on the Verizon Wireless network will have the mobile hotspot feature. Our 4G LTE tablets have the mobile hotspot feature and it is included in the tablet data plans so for example, customers who sign up for the $30 for 2GB plan will also have access to the mobile hotspot feature.
