So why did Apple do a sudden about-face? Altruism? A sense of partnership with the companies that support its platforms? A great love of the written word and unfettered access to unbiased information? Ah-hah, you wish. Turns out, Apple was falling under antitrust scrutiny from both the US Justice Department and the Federal Trade Commission. And it's nice to see those boys can still have some impact when it matters most
