Consumer Reports: Don’t Buy the New iPhone - The Slatest - Slate Magazine

After previously downplaying the iPhone 4's reception problems, Consumer Reports' engineers have had a change of heart . Having now gotten their grubby hands on one of the devices, the magazines experts say that the phone's wrap-around antennae can cause signal degradation and that it won't be possible for Apple to fix the problem without making hardware changes. "[T]he signal can significantly degrade enough to cause you to lose your connection altogether if you're in an area with a weak signal," they write. "Due to this problem, we can't recommend the iPhone 4."
