Silicon Valley Without Trimmings "It was the economist Thorstein Veblen who first captured the foibles of the recently rich in devastating fashion more than a century ago in "Theory of the Leisure Class." He argued that there was an innate urge to consume as an end in itself and that an entire social class defined itself by what it could buy."
