Dell's Profit Down 33% as Revenue Slips - WSJ.com

PC business looking pretty crummy
"Dell rival Hewlett-Packard Co. is also hurting, and is likely to outline plans to lay off as many as 30,000 workers when it reports earnings Wednesday.
Dell, based in Round Rock, Texas, has tried in recent years to move beyond its core personal-computer business and bolster its portfolio of products for corporate customers. PCs still account for more than half of Dell's revenue, but a much smaller percentage of its profits. That's partly because PCs are largely made from intellectual property—such as the operating system and the processors—developed by others."
