Apple’s cloud plans to become less vaporous next week, along with Mac OS and iOS news
Apple said the new software would include iCloud, which will be the company’s cloud computing offering. The company will also show a new release of its OS X operating system for desktop and laptop computers, called Lion, and iOS 5, the latest update to Apple’s mobile operating system, which supports the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.
The company’s decision to announce the keynote event in advance was unusual for Apple as the company usually goes to great pains to remain secretive about any coming announcements or new products.
Apple has recently completed a billion dollar data-center that it is expected to discuss at the developers conference.

I personally don't think apple needs to release a new phone this year; iphone4 has more than enough hardware to run a better iOS. They design the best phones in the market.
ReplyDeleteIs this new iOS designed for music? I hope this will be good cause I really want this one even though I don't know much about it yet. I just want it for its name. "iCloud", cool.
ReplyDeleteWWDC will feature more than 100 technical sessions presented by Apple engineers. Mac developers will see and learn how to develop world-class Mac OS X Lion applications using its latest technologies and capabilities. Mobile developers will be able to explore the latest innovations and capabilities of iOS and learn how to greatly enhance the functionality, performance and design of their apps.the best quality that apple has is that they really make sure that their products or gadgets will be useful enough even if it’s expensive.thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteI'd be in for 50 bucks a year if I could just get my damn machines (Laptop, wifes laptop, and my HTPC) to mirror changes in my iTunes without me drop boxing everything to 3 machines. It's ridiculous¬.
ReplyDeleteThis icloud is just an old fashion money grab. They make only one port and it is proprietary. No other storage capacity than the internal sd card. They make you go to bloat ware itunes to get crap on and off and have slowed that done to a crawl to justify the need for this "honeypot" for them to prosper. Now they are hyping cloud services which are just another name for "virtualization" where they will store all your media for a monthly fee of course. Did I get that right? Like it is not bad enough you can only go to one mall to shop and the merchants selling to your are disgruntled because Apple is loan sharking them out of up to 30% of their proceeds and some have closed shop, and a third of their shopping mall has closed down. They want you to become accustomed to storing your media in their storage locker and not on your device. What happens if you can't pay your bill, do you lose all access to your media too which should have been able to store on your phone in the first place? Unbelievable what Apple customers will go through for the icrap devices that are falling apart, can't connect and now ipad is having a charging while on the dock problem along with screen bleed and connectivity issues.
ReplyDeleteThrough a press release ahead of WWDC, Apple has revealed that it will be releasing its own cloud service to rival Google and Amazon's. In addition, they will unveil the new iOS, and the latest desktop OS."Apple also announced the release of the iWork suite for iOS devices.
ReplyDeleteI think Apple recognizes the fortuity of this particular WWDC with respect to various events (and non-events) in the industry, and wants to make the most of it. PC sales are dropping because of the iPad and the Mac, would-be tablet competitors have faltered, Android developers aren't making the kind of money some expected, Microsoft, Nokia, and RIM have made some really stupid strategic moves, etc.
ReplyDeleteThis is a nice clean, out in the open, all by itself, event to throw the spotlight on some significant new Apple products which may very well leapfrog everything else out there.
Apple is just being more accurate. At the last several WWDCs, Jobs kicked off the keynote, but quickly had Forstall, Schiller, Feder(whatever), and others talk about and demo the various forthcoming products.
ReplyDeleteAs for cloud, Apple looks to push another simple general-purpose word into mainstream consciousness, and co-opt it along the way. Pod, Tunes, Phone, App, Pad, and now Cloud.
Apple tends forgo announcing release dates of big products to the public and bring it out on surprise, but they have some legitimate excuses this time. Plead for apple to hand over any next-gen devices so they are still a big change that it might still come depending on how for it is on! Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteiCloud, in the simplest terms, is simply saving your files on some remote computer out on the Internet rather than on your local hard drive inside your personal computer or computing device (phone, tablet, music player, etc.) A good idea in principle, but there are still lots of issues, such as reliability, privacy, intellectual property rights (including your own. Putting your personal IP out on an iCloud service may in some cases cause you to lose some or all of your IP rights to your own IP.)
