Apple said it sold 4.13 million Macintosh computers, 23 percent more than a year earlier, 16.24 million iPhones, 86 percent more than a year earlier, and 7.33 million iPads, 75 percent more than in the previous quarter. The iPhone and iPad sales were far higher than forecasts.

It also sold 19.5 million iPod media players, falling 7%. Sales have slowed for the iPod, although the unit has likely benefited from higher average selling prices, as more customers gravitate toward the iPod touch.
