A local view on Ray Ozzie’s transition
“I’m happy for Microsoft that he was there as long as he was,’’ said Dan Bricklin, inventor of the original spreadsheet program VisiCalc, who employed Ozzie early in his career. Bricklin said that Ozzie played a major role in the establishment in Cambridge of Microsoft’s New England Research and Development Center.
“It’s been of great benefit to Boston,’’ said Bricklin, who feared that without Ozzie’s backing, Microsoft might reduce its presence in the area. “I worry for Boston what it will be like with Ray not there.’’
