Americans are spending about 70 minutes a day accessing news, including 13 minutes of online readying, according to the biennial survey. That’s a slight increase from the 67-minute average of the 2006 and 2008 surveys. Overall, 46% of respondents said they get news online three or more days a week, up from 37% two years ago.

The impact of Twitter, which has found a niche among tech-savvy news junkies, is still small, with only 3% of the public regularly or sometimes getting news through the service, according to the survey.
