Silverlight Is Still Racing Flash - WSJ.com

An update on the Silverlight/Flash competitive landscape (be sure to check out the new Bing visual search feature)

Even Microsoft's own Web properties, like its MSN portal and Bing search engine, have used Silverlight only sparingly. But now that is changing.

On Monday, the Redmond, Wash., company introduced a new feature on Bing called visual search that uses Silverlight to present search results in a more eye-catching format -- for example, by showing films currently in theaters as a grid of movie posters that swirl around as users refine their queries by genre and ratings.

Later this year, MSN, which is one of the most visited sites on the Internet, plans to make much deeper use of Silverlight as part of a broad redesign of the site, according to people familiar with the matter.
