Deal Journal - WSJ.com : Will CNET be Next to Get DoubleClicked?

Interesting speculation

Today, Banc of America recommends that they have a look at CNET, the operator of sites including the CNET.com news site and download.com, which distributes software programs online. BofA, initiating coverage of CNET with a buy rating, estimates that the company could fetch $13 a share in a takeover, a premium of nearly 50% from the current stock price. The estimate is based on five recent deals for Web properties, including DoubleClick and About.com, which New York Times bought for $410 million in 2005.
