Software Notebook: A Microsoft joint venture gets big, quietly

In six years, Seattle-based tech consulting company Avanade Inc. has surpassed $400 million in annual revenue and become profitable -- despite spending less on advertising than some firms pay for office supplies.

Avanade is unusual in that it only offers systems based on Microsoft technology, such as the .Net platform, Microsoft Dynamics business software and other programs from the Redmond company.
