WSJ.com - IBM Document Shows Co Worried About Oracle Deal

WSJ.com - IBM Document Shows Co Worried About Oracle Deal: "International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) felt threatened enough by Oracle Corp.'s (ORCL) bid for PeopleSoft Inc. (PSFT) that it recommended acquiring middleware software companies and taking 'blocking' stakes in applications vendors, according to an internal document.
IBM is 'exposed to potential consolidation' in the applications market and needs to 'establish more control over acquisitions,' says the review conducted only days after Oracle announced its unsolicited tender offer in June 2003."

Lots of intriguing insights in this trial, but I don't see a clear outcome emerging yet.
