Boston Globe Online / Business / From PC to personal Web server

Boston Globe Online / Business / From PC to personal Web server "For your money, you get a software download that runs quietly in the background, turning your computer into a personal media server. It's easy to drag and drop files that you want to share with others into a special Vibe folder. Touch a button, and Vibe generates a Web page address that links to this folder on your machine. You just e-mail the Web link to anybody you choose. They don't have to be Vibe subscribers, and they don't need any special software to get access to your files. They click the link, and up pops a Web page featuring your files.
Now people can read documents or view photos stored on your home machine. In perhaps the coolest feature, they can even listen to your favorite tunes. Vibe isn't a file-swapping system; it forbids actual downloads of music files. But your friends can listen to the music in a live stream sent from your computer. Indeed, you can use Vibe to listen to your own music collection when you're at work or on the road."
